ABOUT THE HUB
We are catalysing the development of novel diagnostic technologies by connecting innovative companies with expertise from the London health and life sciences ecosystem.
We support companies with their diagnostic development, evaluation, validation and implementation to place London and the UK as leaders in diagnostic development and scale. The Hub is a ‘one stop shop’ for companies to access support and guidance on a range of areas including R&D, clinical trials, manufacturing, funding and regulatory issues.
Why Diagnostics?
The COVID-19 pandemic provided evidence of the importance of diagnostics. MedCity set up the London Testing Alliance and found that by bringing together London’s academic institutions, along with the private laboratories that served hospitals, we were able to create capacity for over 20,000 PCR tests per day.
The project brought together huge capability and expertise, and formed a unit that operationalised a huge task in an effective way. We recognised that this spirit of collaboration and capability should be ‘business as usual’ in how our ecosystem operates and we aim to harness this to meet the demands from the diagnostics industry.
Hub Partners
We have brought together expertise and knowledge from across academic institutions and non-profits including Queen Mary University of London, Imperial College London, King’s College London, University College London, Asthma UK and the British Lung Foundation Partnership, Health Services Laboratories, NIHR London In Vitro Diagnostics Cooperative and NIHR Clinical Research Network North West London.
The Hub offers bespoke support drawing on these world-leading partner organisations, recognised for their excellence in academic and clinical research and evaluation, and commercial experience, alongside representation from patients and the public.
