London’s Life Sciences Sector: the fight against COVID-19

The health and life sciences ecosystem across the UK has reacted rapidly to the challenge of tackling the COVID-19 outbreak – through research, innovation and collaboration. The efforts in London and the Greater South East alone have been a real testimony to the innovation and expertise within life sciences that is driving global excellence.

Unleashing Innovation

Unleashing Innovation shares some of the world-leading science taking place across London in: vaccine development; diagnostics and testing; treatment; data, disease modelling and genomics. Collaboration, innovation and excellence are at the heart of what’s been achieved and must be harnessed as a legacy that lives on through life sciences in London post-pandemic.

The London COVID-19 Alliance

One example is the London COVID-19 Alliance. Set up by MedCity, the Alliance brings together world-leading universities, institutions and partners, including King’s College London, Imperial College London, UCL and Queen Mary University of London. Working closely with Government and agencies across London, the Alliance has offered expertise and innovation, joining in the national effort to tackle COVID-19.
