March Events MedCity Attended
We’re a small team but we get around! Here’s a glimpse of some of our recent activities promoting London’s life sciences sector, including the launch of EIT (European Institute for Innovation and Technology) Hub UK and a visit to the Houses of Parliament.
Launch of EIT Hub UK
Dr Angela Kukula, CEO of MedCity, was delighted to attend an Innovation Workshop and launch reception for the EIT Hub UK on 12th March. The venue for this prestigious event was the Royal Society of Arts.
The EIT (European Institute for Innovation and Technology) Hub UK aims to foster collaboration between various stakeholders. This includes start-ups, scale-ups, corporates, research institutions, and others. Their goal is to connect, collaborate, and co-create innovative solutions to pressing societal challenges. As Europe’s largest innovation network, the EIT brings together organisations from business, education, and research to form Knowledge and Innovation Communities. These partnerships focus on identifying and commercialising solutions for critical global challenges.
London Biotech Roundtable
On 14 March, MedCity co-hosted the London Biotech Roundtable with TusPark UK. The event, held at the Houses of Parliament, was hosted by Chi Onwurah, MP for Newcastle and Shadow Minister for Science, Research and Innovation.
The event’s primary focus was to discuss ways to grow, support, and promote the London biotech ecosystem. It aimed to further encourage existing collaborations and address common challenges.
London and Partners Global Market Directors Visit London
On Monday 18 March, we were delighted to host the London & Partners Global Market Directors for a Life Sciences Day.
The day comprised a morning session discussing the various programmes MedCity offers to life science companies and how we promote London to overseas businesses. This was followed by afternoon site visits to the Knowledge Quarter. The directors began with a tour of the facilities at the London Bioscience Innovation Centre before meeting with MSD at the nearby Francis Crick Institute. By the end of the day, our market directors had a much clearer understanding of what makes London such a fantastic city for life sciences.
